A sense of place

I like being a foreigner. I like to meander in foreign lands and places not my own. I like being lost. It is the best way to discover where you are. The quality of the light, the shape of the shadows, the lay of the land, gestures, language, smells,

noise -- it all makes me feel like my nerve-endings are on the surface of my skin.

It makes me look harder.

I want to see with a surprised eye.
